There are a lot of persistent myths in real estate, to be sure. One that was the subject of discussion in a class I participated in this week is that the public continues to argue with the real estate industry that every dollar invested in a property needs to be directly added to the list price.

For those of you who are happy shoppers of real estate in Central Pennsylvania, be aware that a change is coming July 1 that will affect your closing costs.

Today was the day I took the state-required “ethics” course. It was a packed house as real estate licensees of all sorts jostled to complete their biannual continuing education classes. The instructor took a quick survey of hands: a mix of very experienced (40-plus years) licensees on down to a number of folks taking their first ethics class for initial licensing. Regardless, there was something for everyone to learn.

The Wall Street Journal ran a lead story last week about how “stunned homebuyers find the bidding wars are back.”

Lots of things are changing in the real estate market, both on a national level as well as in Central Pennsylvania.
