More than 1,900 new cars have been sold through a promotion that General Motors Corp. and Chrysler are offering in partnership with Pennsylvania credit unions, according to the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association.

The "Invest in America" program offers rebates or lower pricing to credit union members. It was launched nationwide and in Pennsylvania on Jan. 7 and is scheduled to run through March 31.

The carmakers reported selling more than 56,900 new cars through the program nationwide between Jan. 7 and March 11, and more than 1,900 in Pennsylvania, the credit union group said in a statement.
