It would cover uninsured residents below 133 percent of the federal poverty level, would come with $37 billion in federal funding over the next 10 years and result in 41,000 jobs, according to the release from Frankel, the House Democratic Caucus chairman.

Frankel also said in the statement Thursday that he is introducing an amendment that would opt the state out of the expansion if the federal government reverses course on funding almost all of the costs.

Gov. Tom Corbett in February said in excerpts from a letter to the head of the federal Department of Health and Human Services that without Medicaid reforms, an expansion would be "financially unsustainable" for taxpayers in Pennsylvania.
