While the budget and a tax increase were passed back in December, the commissioners said they continue to review components of the budget to find additional savings or to prevent unnecessary increases.
However, issues such as transportation could continue to place budgetary pressures on the county in the future. The commissioners discussed ongoing efforts to fix or replace structurally deficient bridges, a key aim of Gov. Tom Corbett's transportation funding proposals in his budget plans.
However, the commissioners also wanted to hear more from PennDOT on studies of consolidating the mass transit authorities in central Pennsylvania and how the governor's proposals could affect county finances for transportation.
Also this morning, Perry Heath, president of Carlisle's borough council, asked the commissioners to approve requests for tax abatement on three former industrial properties in the borough.
