Goodwill Keystone Area will close its Colonial Park store and donation center this spring and transfer the operation to Paxton Square Shopping Center.

"We're seeing a lot more donors, a lot more shoppers," said spokeswoman Jennifer Ross. "In that particular location, we really can't expand."

The current location at 5420 Jonestown Road has about 6,500 square feet, Ross said. The new space at 6051 Allentown Boulevard, for which Goodwill signed a five-year lease with Paxton Square Associates, has nearly 12,900 square feet of retail space. Both locations are in Lower Paxton Township.

In addition to being more accommodating and offering more parking space, Ross said, the new location also offers more crucial back-room space for the workers sorting and pricing goods.

Goodwill is also planning to open a large store and donation center this spring in the Hershey area, which currently has no store and just a small donation program. It has signed a five-year lease for 18,104 square feet of retail space at the Palmyra Shopping Center, 901 E. Main St., Palmyra, with Cedar-Palmyra LLC.

"We're always looking at locations where we feel that we can be successful," Ross said. "With Hershey growing every day, we felt that was a place we could go and be successful."

Goodwill Keystone Area is a nonprofit organization that supports persons with disabilities and other barriers to independence in achieving their fullest potential as workers and as members of the broader community. It collects and sells donated items in more than 35 stores and donation centers in 22 counties in central and southeastern Pennsylvania.
