A new website has been launched to help contractors, subcontractors, and state and local government bodies bidding public works projects meet the requirements of the Public Works Employment Verification Act.

Gov. Tom Corbett signed the act into law in July. As of Jan. 1, contractors and subcontractors are required to verify the employment eligibility of each new employee through the federal government's E-Verify system.

Information is available through the state Department of General Services' website by clicking "Construction and Public Works" in the left navigation pane and then clicking on "Public Works Employment Verification."
