DHS is a portfolio company of GMH Ventures LLC, a private equity group headquartered in Newtown Square, Pa.
"We are currently looking to acquire other similar size organizations in the home medical equipment marketplace to grow our regional focus," Michael Holloway, executive vice president of GMH, said in a news release.
DHS was formed in 2000 as the parent company to Central Medical Equipment of Harrisburg and East Suburban Medical Supply of Pittsburgh. It employs more than 80 people, providing home medical equipment, respiratory therapy, and complex rehabilitation products and services in western and Central Pennsylvania.
Evanko, based in Hazleton, distributes medical products and equipment in Schuylkill County, Carbon County, Luzerne County and parts of Columbia County. It was founded in 2001 by Thomas J. Evanko, who died in April. His wife, Carmela, continued to run the business until the sale to DHS.
