BAE, Voith awarded local defense contracts

Two companies with York County facilities were awarded military contracts on Thursday, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.


London-based BAE Systems Land and Armaments LP was awarded a $34.6 million contract for the production of M88A2 Hercules vehicles in support of foreign military sales.

The U.S. Army Contracting Command in Michigan is the contracting activity for the work, which is expected to be completed by June 30, 2014, according to the DoD.

Earlier this week, BAE was awarded a contract to support Bradley A3 configured vehicles.

Hydroelectric turbine maker Voith Hydro Inc., based in West Manchester Township, was awarded a $13.1 million contract for rehabilitation services of the hydroelectric generator at Fort Peck Dam in Montana.

The project is for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is slated for completion in Dec. 31, 2015, according to the DoD.
