Harrisburg is the third-lowest commercial rental income market in the country, according to new data from the Building Owners and Managers Association, or BOMA, International.

The capital city came in at $13.41 per square foot. The least expensive city markets for rental income are Shreveport, La., and Dayton, Ohio, according to BOMA.

The most expensive markets for commercial rentals are New York City at $45.15 per square foot and Washington, D.C., at $44.10.

New York also is the most expensive city for total operating expenses at $12.46 per square foot, according to BOMA. The least expensive is Jackson, Miss., at $4.71.

BOMA compiled a list of the most and least expensive commercial real estate city markets in the U.S. It used the results from the 2012 Experience Exchange Report, which aggregated rental income and operating expense figures from 2011.
