Chairman and CEO Gary Clemens, 69, stepped down effective June 15, URL said in a statement today.

Clemens’ son, Kenneth Clemens, was named CEO. He is URL’s president and chief operating officer.

URL was formerly a business unit of United Republic Life Insurance Co., where Clemens worked from 1967 to 1986, rising to become president and chief operating officer. In 1986, Clemens and a partner, Richard Basciano, purchased the unit to run as a separate company. Basciano died in 1997.

Based in Lower Paxton Township, URL is an insurance brokerage offering annuities, health, life and long-term care insurance. It offers products, sales support and back-office services to more than 10,000 insurance agents nationwide.
