The 27,000-square-foot building is adjacent to Holy Spirit's campus on 21st Street in Camp Hill, and marketing and public relations coordinator Lori Moran said Holy Spirit has owned it since 2003.

The total cost of the extensive renovations planned is estimated at more than $10 million, she said, and Holy Spirit expects the data center to be completed by the end of this year.

Holy Spirit's two existing data centers employ 48 full-time workers, Moran said, and will continue to operate for some time, likely until they reach the end of the useful life of their equipment.

The new center will be equipped to better handle integrated electronic medical records, streamline workflow, and maintain security, she said. At full capacity, it is expected to employ an additional 62 permanent full-time workers. Additionally, the renovation is expected to create 25 temporary jobs.

Moran said Holy Spirit is gathering letters of support for the grant and obtained one last night from the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners.
