BAE's facility in West Manchester Township manufactures, repairs and upgrades Bradley armored personnel carriers for various branches of the military. The contract calls for the company to provide materials and labor to upgrade an unspecified number of vehicles, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Defense.

The company did not immediately respond to requests for more information on the contract.

It's unknown whether this contract will affect the 210 workers in York County who are expected to be furloughed or laid off when BAE suspends production of Bradleys this summer due to a contract delay. The company said last week it expected that work to stop in July and August.

Congress also is reviewing Bradley production as part of automatic cuts to defense spending that will slash billions in the fiscal 2013 budget. Pennsylvania's U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat, and several Republican colleagues from other states urged the Senate Armed Services Committee to spare the Bradley program, which generates hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs in those states.
