The project will include replacing more than 7,000 feet of nearly 100-year-old cast iron water main along Market Street between 32nd Street, also known as the Camp Hill Bypass, and 15th Street.

The construction work is being coordinated with the state Department of Transportation to ensure the new water lines are installed prior to the scheduled repaving of Market Street, said Joseph Woodward, the company's field operations manager.

The upgrades are expected to be complete by the end of July, the company said. Construction will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday.

Pennsylvania American Water is a subsidiary of New Jersey-based American Water. American Water trades shares of its stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol AWK.

The parent company also is scheduled to report its fourth-quarter earnings on Feb. 27.

Pennsylvania American Water's East and West Shore systems serve about 55,000 customers, said Terry Maenza, a company spokesman. The company operates in 36 counties across the commonwealth, serving about 2.2 million customers.
