Manheim Township-based Laser Plus will operate The Digital Workshop, an affiliate company offering three- to four-hour courses in Microsoft Office products, the Adobe suite, social media, QuickBooks and desktop publishing, according to a news release.

Classes are offered in the morning, afternoon or evening, and will change schedule based on feedback, CEO Mary Renner said. Many of the core subjects offered regularly have four levels of expertise, and participants can learn which class is best for them by viewing the curriculum online, she said.

Laser Plus in January moved into new headquarters at 205 Granite Run Drive, suite 120. The Digital Workshop is at the same address in 4,000 square feet of space.

"We became aware that there was a niche to fill for hands-on training in manageable-sized pieces," Renner said.

The classes are useful for those who prefer in-person training to online courses, and for companies to send employees to learn a new skill quickly without a 10-week semester, she said.

The company hired two people and has two adjunct teachers for its courses, she said. Laser Plus already employed six people who are a part of the new division.

"We want to be very reactive and fluid," Renner said. "Any sort of out-of-the-box skills or needs people are interested in learning, we'd be delighted to work with them."

Laser Plus sells new and refurbished printers, toner cartridges and offers printer repair and print management services.
