On Feb. 12, the retailer started a closing sale at the store at 3500 Capital City Mall Drive in Lower Allen Township, said Katelyn Leondi, a Toys R Us spokeswoman. The sale is scheduled to be complete by mid-March.

The company will move the Toys R Us location to the new store at 6391 Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township, where it also will open a new Babies R Us store. Toys R Us will retain the more than 50 people that work at the Camp Hill store, moving them to the new building, Leondi said.

The combined store on the Carlisle Pike is part of the company's strategy to integrate its retail locations and offer shoppers a one-stop experience, she said.

Toys R Us does not yet have an opening date for the new store, she said.

Camp Hill-based Smith Land & Improvement Corp. redeveloped the Silver Creek Plaza on Carlisle Pike, a 9 acre former car dealership, for 70,000 square feet of retail space, including the Toys R Us location and smaller shops.
