The American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania presented the award for Rettew's work on the Manheim Borough Authority's wastewater treatment plant upgrades for biological nutrient removal.

The award is part of the annual Diamond Awards for Engineering Excellence, which recognize engineering firms for projects showing value, innovation and achievement, according to the release.

The upgrades to the treatment plan were completed as part of the state's Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy and involved an oxidation ditch, final clarifiers, an additional chemical feed system, new sludge pumps, variable frequency drives and biosolid storage.

Rettew also helped the authority secure a $4.3 million grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for the $11 million project, the company said.

Manor Township-based Rettew includes engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services.

The Manheim Borough Authority provides wastewater treatment to approximately 2,300 residences and businesses in Manheim Borough and portions of Penn and Rapho townships in Lancaster County.
