Mechanicsburg businessman joins Stampede ownership group

By Jason Scott

The Harrisburg Stampede of American Indoor Football has a new owner, the team announced this week.

Justin Coble, a two-year assistant coach and proprietor of Casey's Closet, a home goods and furniture store in downtown Mechanicsburg, has taken over the daily operations and general manager responsibilities.

"I have a vision and a goal where I want this organization to go," Coble said in a statement as the team gears up for a fourth season. "I know this is going to create an exciting future for the Stampede and the surrounding area and all that are in this community."

Bernie Nowotarski will remain as head coach and will become the director of football operations.

In 2011, the American Indoor Football Association East teams merged with the Southern Indoor Football League. At the end of the 2011 season, several SIFL teams left to join a new southern league, so the AIF was formed to provide league play for northern teams, including the Stampede.

The AIF is set up as a national league but will based on regional play within each division. In 2012 the AIF will feature two divisions, one on the East Coast covering the states of Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, and the other on West Coast covering the states of Arizona, California and Nevada.

A championship game will be played between the eastern and western conference champions hosted in 2012 by the eastern conference champion.

The Stampede 2012 schedule and ticket information are not yet available. Last season, general admission tickets were $10 and a family pack of four tickets cost $30.
