Unilever, the London-based distributor of consumer food and personal care brands such as Hellman's and Q-Tips, is the company that plans to expand its midstate logistics operations into a new warehouse in Cumberland County next year, according to local officials.

California-based Panattoni Development Co. plans to build a 1.5 million-square-foot warehouse at Key Logistics Park on Centerville Road in Penn Township if supervisors there approve the plans next week. The warehouse will add 200 jobs and bring 450 with it once operational.

Panattoni representatives were not immediately available for comment.

In September, township Chairman Gary Martin told the Western Cumberland Council of Governments that Unilever planned to build the warehouse, according to minutes from the Sept. 12 meeting.

Yesterday, Martin said the company moving into the warehouse was moving jobs from another location. Unilever has a 1 million-square-foot facility at 597 Alexander Spring Road in South Middleton Township.

Unilever today declined to comment in an email from Dean Mastrojohn, its corporate media relations manager for North America.
